Portrait Commissions

Portraits can capture a single moment in time, and preserve the subject likeness for many years. Unlike a photograph a drawing is a personal lasting reminder of a special moment you want to hold on to. Whether it is a member of the family, a pet, a good friend, a loved-one or even someone who is no longer with us. I can recreate their image into a piece of art.

To create a portrait I work from your photographs. In order to achieve an accurate likeness, I like to see several photos in order to get an overall impression of their features.

I will work from poor photos, I realise that many portraits are memorials and it can also be difficult to find the perfect photograph. Please understand that your portrait will be less detailed if the image is blurry. I can only draw what I see.

Your portrait is created using artist quality lightfast, acid-free materials to assure longevity: this drawing should last for many years.

The key to a good portrait is communication with my customers. When you commission a portrait we will have a chat to find out exactly what you are looking for with your portrait. I will help you choose a photo for me to work from. Don’t worry if you aren’t really sure at this point I will help you decide what will look best.

I will be as approachable and helpful as possible and keep you updated throughout the whole process, so you can let me know if there’s anything you want me to change. I will discuss your ideas and images with you in detail before commencing work.

Each drawing is a unique and original hand-drawn portrait in coloured pencil or pastel. I aim to produce beautiful, high-quality, one-off pieces which have a deep personal meaning to you. I offer a friendly and professional service, so please take a look at my recent work and get in touch for a chat about how I can create something special just for you.
